Some news after a long time!

It’s been a while since the last update of this blog, mainly due to a lot of ongoing activities, work and apps.

In the next posts I’ll publish more detailed info about the published apps and the other stuff that involved me in the past months.

As for the very last news, I’m happy to announce that I was announced as a winner of the Symbian Qt Quick Components Competition recently held on the Nokia Developer Wiki.

As for the blog itself, the bugs that prevented new comments to be posted have been fixed, so you’re welcome to contribute with your ideas, questions and suggestions.

Meanwhile, thank you for waiting, and stay tuned!

I have a suggestion for an app.

Sms + Call Counter which would allow people to monitor their usage more closely, with in-depth stats and settings to put in your contracted plan. Would be ideal to have an app where I could monitor my usage in this way, especially for those on contracts. Most currently are either widgets or not very feature full.

Thank you for your suggestion William, It sounds like a really useful idea. I’ll check it out more in-depth and let you know if I manage to implement it!

GRAZIE… :-)

    • pit 1:29 pm on April 25, 2012 Permalink

Grazie per i complimenti e per i suggerimenti Luca! Le idee mi sembrano molto valide, spero di riuscire a realizzarle al più presto :)

Grazie a te…
Grazie ancora… ;-)

Hi Alessandro, I use your GCal app on my Motorola i465 Clutch, and recently after checking for updates it states: “A new version (0.3.6) is available. Download it now?” then “Please visit http://www.jappit.com to update Gcal” but I only see 0.3.5 on this site. Could you please post a link? Thanks!

      Any apps in prog Japp?

What’s your thought of designing an app which would send picture messages via the internet? Could possibly be a good app for purchases due to the nature of saving some call time balance in the long run. I know quite a few apps on the popular android os and Iphone’s os.

Would be nice to see Symbian on the up. Kudos for your hard work!

Ciao. Volevo chiederti se aggiornerai l’app metropolitane, visto che a Napoli hanno aperto la nuova fermata di Toledo della linda 1

      Ciao Michele,

grazie della segnalazione, provvederò ad aggiornarla quanto prima.

Nokia Store, says there’s now a version for Belle. Is there any possibility of adding more leagues? Mainly the english one’s but this would be a very good app, a must have if there was more leagues

    • pit 8:49 pm on April 24, 2012 Permalink

      Hi William,

I’m working to add more leagues, hope to release an updated version asap!

    • William 11:04 pm on April 24, 2012 Permalink

Would you consider adding a feature which would allow us to select our favorite side. (for convenience/quick use) but would also allow us to add filters so we can keep tabs on other scores, especially one match day. I think this would be very beneficial, as those in any position using the app would find it useful. If your challenging for the title you’d be able to keep an eye on how the others nearby are doing without having to view all, same goes for those who like multiple teams or worried about the relegation drop)

Very visually pleasing app from the screenshots!

      Cheers!

    • Paul 5:18 pm on April 28, 2012 Permalink

Hi, would you consider adding in your next update some of these ideas:

in the results tab, an indicator for each game result would be great -> if the score is a full time score (“FT” icon above the date for example), if the game is still being played (“Live” icon), and if the game hasn’t started (no icon).
auto refresh feature if the user is following a certain game (with the possibility of choosing the refresh rate).
if the app is opened on a specific game, a sound or vibration notification (or both) if a goal is scored.
Choosing a different league by just tapping on the name of the league on the top of the app (the same way we choose a different match day) rather than clicking on the bottom right icon.
      Euro 2012 section.

Thank you for the great app :)

    • pit 9:22 pm on April 29, 2012 Permalink

Thank you for your suggestions Paul! I’ve already finished adding an indicator for each game, will be available in the next update that should be on the Nokia Store in the next week.

As for the other features, they’re all useful and will try to implement them asap.

    • Dan 8:16 pm on April 30, 2012 Permalink

some great feature suggestions. both williams and pauls, would make this app even better than ehat it already is. Pit; when do you think more leagues could be added out of interest, if i buy now would i recieve feature additions in the future and please match the grsphic ui/layout as it appears above. Looks coo

    • Dan 2:30 pm on May 1, 2012 Permalink

      Sorry about the spelling mistakes.

    • pit 8:46 am on May 2, 2012 Permalink

      Hi Dan,

adding more leagues is definitely one of the things I’m working on, can’t say a date but will surely pull out an update with more leagues asap. As for the UI, if you refer to the Symbian version, it closely matches the platform style, by using Qt components: this is the main reason for the UI differences with the MeeGo version.

    • Dan 12:30 am on May 3, 2012 Permalink

sorry i should proof read what i type. I mean’t if i bought your app, would i still receive updates which include extra features or would it be general fixes and improvements of a small nature? Regarding ui, it looks like the buttons are at the top for sym 3 version. I should waited, looking forward to using it.

    • John 1:51 pm on May 14, 2012 Permalink

Hi, thanks for your good app. BTW, When I used this to see La Liga results, it was not up to date. I opened it on May 14th, and it only showed result for May 12th matches (May 13th matches still 0-0). Is this a bug? I hope you can also add feature to store results or league table in offline mode in the future release (just keep the latest results to reduce memory usage).

    • William 6:21 pm on June 2, 2012 Permalink

Any planned updates for the european championships? It doesn’t look likely but hoping.

Winner in Nokia Developer Series 40 Java and Web App Competition

I’m happy to announce that I am one of the winners of the Series 40 Java and Web App Competition competition recently held by the Nokia Developer community.

    From the competition page:

Using the PositioningManager from Java ME Location API by Alessandro La Rosa (jappit). This wiki article explains how to use the PositioningManager from the Ovi Maps Java ME Location API to get information about the device location. Alessandro contributed a number of articles and a project; while this was our favourite, they are all very well written and provide an excellent insight into how to use the Java Location API:

    Thank you Nokia Developer!

I have a question: The Java ME Location API has been made private. Any idea why?
